Google’s YouTube continues its reign as the king of online video distribution. According to comScore’s most recent Video Metrix report, the video giant accounted for 47 percent of the nearly 40 billion videos that were watched online in the month of September.

The average YouTube visitor clocked in at 6.3 hours spent on the site per month, which far outpaces Hulu and YouTube’s other competitors.

What YouTube has yet to accomplish, however, is to successfully monetize its premium content such as feature films. The site has tried several times over the last few years, most recently with a major rollout this past May.

What do you think, Insiders? Will YouTube be able to successfully convert its growing popularity into a truly worthy rival to Netflix, etc.?

I don’t see how. It has too much reputation as an amateur video site.
