The National Assn. of Theater Owners (NATO) whom you may recall is hopping mad over the development of premium video-on-demand, is demanding that the studios behind the new service release some numbers.
NATO prexy and CEO John Fithian is wondering aloud why premium VOD earnings have not been disclosed, especially considering the controversy that the service has created over the last few weeks.
Asks Fithian:

Unlike box office results, Hollywood studios decline to publish home video earnings, and seem to consider premium VOD to fall under the same auspices.
Does NATO have a point here, Insiders? Do the studios have something to hide (like embarrassingly low earnings) and have a reason to keep premium VOD numbers a secret? Or is this just business as usual when it comes to reporting home video earnings?
