Welcome to another edition of Inside Redbox’s Preview Review, where we recap the movies that will be coming out in theaters this weekend. The goal of this feature is to help you make your weekend movie-watching plans, as well as to note movies that you want to Redbox in a few months when they come out on DVD.

It’s Christmas weekend, and that means a slew of new films are opening in wide release. Previews and the official trailers for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Adventures of Tintin, We Bought a Zoo, War Horse and The Darkest Hour are after the break.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The controversial best-selling novel (the first in a trilogy) comes to the big screen courtesy of skilled director David Fincher. The trailer, at least, has mood and tension in spades. Rated R.

The Adventures of Tintin

Steven Spielberg tries his hand at the motion-capture game with this film based on the Belgian comic books. Can someone as masterful as Spielberg finally bridge the “uncanny valley?” Rated PG.

We Bought a Zoo

Famed director Cameron Crowe returns with a family-friendly film based on a true story. Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson star. Rate PG

War Horse

In an odd coincidence, Spielberg is competing with himself this weekend with a second film. War Horse tells the story of a boy and his beloved pet torn apart by the first World War. Rated PG-13.

The Darkest Hour

The dark horse of the holiday weekend, this thriller tells the tale of five young tourists trapped in Moscow during an invasion by energy-hungry aliens. Rated PG-13.

You’ve got an enormous variety of films at the cineplex over the holiday weekend, Insiders. What will you be seeing?

I’d come to give the go-ahead with you here. Which is not something I typically do! I love reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!
