Welcome to another edition of Inside Redbox’s Preview Review, where we recap the movies that will be coming out in theaters this weekend. The goal of this feature is to help you make your weekend movie-watching plans, as well as to note movies that you want to Redbox in a few months when they come out on DVD.
This week, you’ve got two choices coming out in wide release. Your inner (or outer) comic book geek will likely be satisfied with Green Lantern, while your kids or the kid in you may flock to Mr. Popper’s Penguins. Green Lantern
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively star in this silver screen take on the legendary comic book hero. Expect special effects and heroic dialogue aplenty. The question is, with so many other comic book movies (Thor, X-Men, Captain America, etc.) coming out this summer, will Green Lantern get lost in the shuffle? Rated PG-13.
Mr. Popper’s Penguins
Jim Carrey takes on the titular role in this adaptation of the beloved children’s book. Filmed on an icy soundstage with real penguins, will Jim Carrey’s humor play well with the younger set? Rated PG.
So what’ll it be, Insiders? Can a magic ring or perky penguins lure you into the cineplex this weekend?
Enh to both. I’ll probably goe see Super 8 if the weather’s not good. Otherwise it’s a Father’s Day cookout for me.
