Welcome to another edition of Inside Redbox’s Preview Review, where we recap the movies that will be coming out in theaters this weekend. The goal of this feature is to help you make your weekend movie-watching plans, as well as to note movies that you want to Redbox in a few months when they come out on DVD.
After a lighter week of releases, Hollywood is throwing four films out in wide release this weekend. Previews and the official trailers for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked and Young Adult are after the break.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law are back in the sequel to the 2009 hit. The film looks to have all of the banter, punching and wit of the first film. Rated PG-13.
Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol
The seemingly ageless Tom Cruise returns for his fourth outing as superspy Ethan Hunt. How many good fourth films in a series can you name? Let’s hope M:I IV can break the trend. Rated PG-13.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked
Hope you’re ready for the third Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, because here it comes. Can this movie bring anything new to the series, or is it just a cash grab at this point? Rated G.
Young Adult
Talk about a great pedigree: you’ve got one of the best directors (Jason Reitman) and best screenwriters (Diablo Cody) around teaming up on a new project with Charlize Theron, who’s no slouch herself. Rated R.
Will you be seeing any of this week’s movies, Insiders?
All should be available on DVD in the Spring of 2012 [April or May].
