The Chicago Transit Authority has gotten approval from Mayor Rahm Emanuel to install 11 Redbox kiosks in select train stations.
Forrest Claypool, CTA president, said the following about the new kiosks:
“Many Chicagoans asked for Redbox kiosks . . . It has been a goal of my administration to have an open conversation with our riders to help improve service throughout the system . . . This is an opportunity for CTA to gain non fare-box revenue as well as offer an amenity we know our customers want .

. . Redbox is the latest addition to the list of improvements to the ‘L’ line (one of four heavy-rail lines in the United States) announced this month.”
Will other mass transit authorities see the boost to CTA’s bottom line and customer satisfaction and get on board with adding Redboxes to their train stations?

One could just hear a redbox vending machine grinding away as someone waits for a disk to be dispensed. Then MISSES the train or can’t wait, and gets stuck with a big debit to an account! Ha! Ha! Ha!
They should put them in airports as well so you can watch the movie you want to while traveling on a long flight.
I live by the L in Chicago. I cannot wait. I think Wellington Brown line already has one.
Airports would be good also. Richard Bransonand Virgin are already doing Chromebooks. Redbox would be a good edition.
