When I was a kid, it seemed that Jason from the original Halloween movie was always the scariest. He never said a thing, but the music and with no lights on in the house, made it very creepy…

Leprechaun (the original) was always the scariest when I was little. My sister’s fav Shirley Temple movie had the preview also so I would never watch it (cause it was on VHS and you still had to look at it while you fast forwarded). :)

Any Friday the 13th movie after the first one. When I was a kid, Jason was the only movie monster who made me look under my bed!

    Jaws
There are many that are more scary, including a few I won’t watch again, but in terms of my all-time favorite scary movie, I’d have to go with Jaws.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original. Nightmares about meat locker hooks after that one.

    ” The Shining ”
Need I say more. This show is one that you want to see over and over. It still is just as creepy as the first.

Stanley Kubrick did an excellent job directing and Jack Nicolson was creepy.
    So for Halloween……..

When I was a kid, the Exorcist scared me so bad that I had nightmares for weeks! It seemed so much more like something that could really happen than some of the other movies — like Jason and Michael Myers who never seem to die. :) Since then, I have always loved Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street movies because he had a sense of humor right before he mutilated someone. He wasn’t scary, but he was fun to watch. When it comes to movies scaring me, I don’t think anything will ever top the Exorcist.

Sixth Sense! I love the twist at the end of the movie! I don’t like a movie with just blood in gore…it’s good to have a good mystery involved in the plot!

I remember being crazy scared by Children of the Corn. I haven’t seen it in years and must say that I don’t really want to! Horror films are my least favorite genre.

The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The old one in black and white. I watched it when I was young and by myself and it kind of freaked me out. Also, there was no real ending so you don’t know what happened. I don’t really watch scary movies though.

    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre-

This takes the cake because a chainsaw wielding psychopath wearing other people’s skin is a scary concept and the film did very well in placing the viewer in the film and reacting to the progression of the film.

I’d have to say The Shining with Jack Nicholson. I’ll never forget his creepy face, knife in hand, chasing what’s her name thru the corn maze! Truly scary as hell!

The Amityville Horror movie from 2005 because it could really happen.

I HATE horror movies, I hate to be scared and they always give me nightmares. That said, I LOVED The Sixth Sense, great story, great writing/directing/acting. When I was a kid I was sat on by my brother and cousin and forced to watch this horror movie – the old Creature Feature flicks on Saturdays. I think it was called the Fiend Without A Face… terrified me… haven’t been able to watch a horor movie since (by choice)

The movie that scared me the most was The Exorcist !!! I went to see it with my older sister (who was an obvious chicken)…. I was trying to sit there all cool and composed watching the movie yet sinking lower and lower into the seat and right in a REALLY SCARY part .. my older sister jumped straight up from her seat SCREAMING!!! Her big box of popcorn shot up in the air and covered almost 2 rows of people!! I don’t know what scared me worse… the movie or her screaming like that… freaked me out bad. I still get goose bumps when I hear that tubular bells song they played in the movie…lol…
