I think that 1.20 is to much! A dollar was great + your state tax. In MD it was 1.06, in AZ it should be 1.09 and not 1.20.

I think you will just keep raising your price until you lose business like the Blockbuster stores, You think businesses would learn, but then the greed takes over and you don’t realize that nothing lasts forever!!!

I think that $1.00 was a nice novel price and I do not think that you should have raised it. You still are cheaper than Blockbuster Kiosks who for the first 30 Days chargers you $3.00, than the next 30-60 Day Period $2.00 and then finally $1.00. So if you don’t mind waiting you can still get a movie for a dollar. We are obviously already waiting so who cares about a little longer to get it from Blockbuster for a Dollar.

    Over a dollar

So in this still poor economy, redbox had the great idea to rent for $1. Now I think they don’t care much about economy as they do themselves and money. Sure sounds like greed to me. I live in southern IL, so we are very limited on a “deal” here. $1 movie rentals are great! Anything else is just greedy. I understand the upcharge for Blueray, I’m strictly speaking about DVDs.

I think $1.50 would be stretching it!

From a marketing perspective, the $1.00 price point draws consumers on a consistent basis. Once you start raising prices, people start to wonder what the new price is, or are there multiple price levels, and thus lose a level of comfort, which leads to reduced rentals and thus a reduction of revenue. To overcome this obstacle, a new price increase should be sufficient enough to last a long time before another one would be required, and must come with enough incentives, coupons, deals, etc. to overcome objections to the new price point and last long enough for people to come to accept the new price point.

I think they should stick to $1.00 plus tax

I think they should have kept the price at $1. Althought $1 may seem too inexpensive to some people, I find it annoying that the DVD has to be back the next day before 9:00 p.m. or you are charged for an additional day. This inconvenience is reason enough to keep the price at $1.

    Anything over $1.50.

Over 1$ is pushing it but over 2$ and you will lose more customers than the added profit.

I think $1 + tax is still a good deal, but $1.20 + tax seems like too much.

I loved the $1 price point. It’s just irritating that they raised the price. Either way, it’s still a better deal than Blockbuster or going to the theater!!!

Redbox used to be great when it was just $1.00. Now that they have raised their prices, and haven’t added any new features I believe their overall business will suffer because of it. People who want to rent movies have no choice anymore. You either go to Redbox and hope they have the movie you want, or you go to the store and buy the movie. Blockbuster was more expensive, but you could go there and get any movie you wanted. You weren’t limited to new releases. What is one to do if they want to rent an older, classic movie, which Redbox obviously does not offer? I’m disgusted with the movie business in general anymore, and I’m angry with Redbox pretending to be a great deal for all, when they must have had the plan all along to increase a little bit at a time, until they are just as outrageous as all the other rentals!!!

$1.01 is too much. Now that they’ve put the competition out of business I guess they can do what they want tho.

Definitely just over $1. Then again, I always just use free codes anyways ;)

I agree with the majority- anything over $1 is too much. Especially when they’ve put the other guys out of business!

1.20 is getting to be expensive.

I know I’ve been renting less since it went over $1 + tax. I’m in AZ (a test market). Now I have to pay a $1.30something. In these hard times it would be nice to see a company that cared & didn’t hike prices. Everything is going up except paychecks! I would draw the line at $2 & I will also be using Blockbuster Express more ften sincethey are cheaper & Redbox has started deducting the mney right away just like BBE. :(

$1.00 per movie is why I rent them from Redbox….I will look into other options should the price continue to raise….

Anything over a $1 is too much….$1.20 is so random…there are others out there that still offering movies at a $1 or streaming which you do not need to waste gas to get a movie and return it.

$1 is a great selling point. When it becomes a buck-twenty or a buck-fifty, Redbox loses the uniqueness and it much easier to “just go somewhere else!”

Since switching to Blu-ray, I no longer have an interest to rent regular DVD’s, so I’m glad that the price is staying the same for blu-ray.

As far as regular DVD’s go, $1 was a great deal, and IMHO $1.20 is still a good deal.

Over a $1 is not really a good deal when I can get it for that price at the locally owned place. Redbox is actually out of my way but I still use it. I draw the line at over a $1. Sorry.

Everything video related went up all at the same time. not much of a choice really.. Red box has come along way since 2 years ago.. so many locations, so many choices.. I really cannot complain.

I think the reason everyone loved redbox because it was a dollar! I think the more you raise the price the more people will stop using redbox! It started out for the Ronald McDonald house! Instead of raising the price make it so that people have an option on donating more and explain what the movie goes too!

I think $1.20 isn’t so bad. My daughter worked at a video rental place and the price was $6.00 a rental! Besides its convenient to just drive up to the kiosk and not have to deal with a cashier that might not want to be there lol! I think Redbox kiosks are a very novel idea and we should be thankful we can still rent DVDs and not have to buy them or pay for them over cable company hookups.

One of the reasons to USE Redbox is the $1.00 price—at that level, even if you end up keeping it a few extra nights, it isn’t cost prohibitive to cough up the extra buck or two (of course if you’re an idiot like that woman who was suing Redbox because she couldn’t get her act together to return her DVD & ended up owning it, that’s yer own fault).
I personally apply a triage to movies: 1- One I’ll pay to see at the show on a big screen; 2-One I’ll wait to catch at the 2nd-run cheap show (we still have one); and 3 – One I’ll rent for a buck. Oh, and 4- One I’ll watch at my friends’ house because they have 67,000 channels on their satellite system.
My one big problem w/Redbox is the limited selection—yeah, yeah, you can check & reserve online & pop over to multiple kiosks (if you’re lucky enough to be able have that choice) for a title, but mostly the titles available are direct-to-video crapola or stuff I wouldn’t have wasted time seeing anyway. (Altho I admit to watching junk because it’s ONLY A DOLLAR—maybe better I should read a book….)

Just remember Netflix lost over 800,000 subscribers because they pissed them off….

I actually thought it twice when i saw the new price before renting last night!! so I say 1.20

I like a $1. Who doesn’t like the best bargain? I get most of my films at the library and only rent from Redbox if I have an occasion. On those occasions, I’d be really annoyed by anything over $1.50. The video store we used to go to charged $3, but they had space rent and cashiers to pay. I realize that Redbox also has employees, but they couldn’t possibly have anything close to the overhead an actual store has.

I really like the $1 deal. But I would say once it’s over $2, it’s not worth driving to return it the next night to avoid another days charge.
