Universal and Comcast are planning on charging $60 for premium video-on-demand (VOD) rentals of the upcoming Eddie Murphy movie, Tower Heist. For many consumers, sixty bucks seems like an outrageous amount to pay for the privilege of watching a movie at home a few weeks after it hits theaters.

$2.00 is the max I would pay. I am into cheep entertainment
Is there a zombie apocalypse going on outside? I can’t leave my house, so if I want to see a first run movie I have to pay up? Seems extreme. I can’t see paying over theater prices, $10-12 max.
Wouldn’t pay for the service, regardless of price. I’d wait until it comes to redbox.
I would pay around $8 per movie if it was still in theaters. Otherwise I would just go see it in the theater.
I would rather wait until it comes out on dvd and buy it than watch it once for $60!I don’t even bother going to the movies because they are so expensive. There aren’t any movies that I want to see that badly!
No more than 5 dollars. Or wait a few months and get it for ” a buck at the box!”
$10.00 or $8.50 Senior
I might pay $10, if I couldn’t see anywhere else. But theater would always be prefered.
$3 up to $5 depending upon the subject and where the money goes to.
We have an excellent second-run theater that gets movies very soon after they are out of the first run theatres and they only charge $3, so that’s all I pay. Going to the first run theaters has gotten so expensive, I don’t go more than once or twice a year anymore. Thanks to Redbox, I still see lots of great movies!
I would be willing to pay up to $12.00 but they should keep it below $10 if they want to make money.
I would only pay about 2-3 dollars or I would just wait until it came out in redbox.
Nada
I wouldn’t pay. By the time you get popcorn, drinks you got an easy 50.00,Now let us compare redbox.$1.00 movie, your own drinks and you own drinks. Heck of a lot cheaper no?!
I wouldn’t pay that Kind of money for video on demand , I’d would wait for it to
come to Red Box for $1.00.
Since movie theaters are now charging around ten bucks to see a movie, I think $15 is a reasonable price to see it at home vod.
I would be willing to pay $10 to be able to watch it at home before it gets to redbox. If someone would pay $60 to get it early they are either really desperate or really stupid.
$1 would be perfect!!!!
I would only pay about $3 not much more than that.
$15 is the max I would pay.
Nothing, the cable company comcast charge too much now. Does the $60.00 include a dinner & drinks too?
If I wanted to see the movie that bad I might be willing to pay $10.00.
I’d pay up to $10 if I hadn’t already seen it in the theater and had friends over to watch it with me. But it would have to be a special occasion!
$4.95
I’d rather wait until it comes to redbox. Second preference is to get BOGO Fandango movie ticket and watch it in theaters than pay to service charge.
Not over $3.
5 bucks. The movie companies have a lot less overhead this way so no use paying the same price as theaters
5.00 dollars is the max
The most I would be willing to give is between $3-$5 for one night, anything else would be uncivilized…
I love the theater experience. If I have to pay that much I will go out to an actual theater, otherwise I am a patient woman and will wait for red box or some other less expensive venue. Cable companies already get enough of my money.
I think it would be very cool to watch a movie at home. The price I would pay for it would depend on many things. Would It have all the special effects? I would want to be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward. I would also like to pay less than movie price. I feel there is so much already to watch on TV. If it was same price or more than movie prices I would rather get out and see it on the biggest screen I can with no home distractions and all special effects. Technology is awesome, but I find it is starting to keep people home more often and making them unsocial in real life. I do non profit work for the American Heart Association and I want people to get out; even if it to walk to your car and into a movie. There is more to life than computers, FB, and TV. Please pick me I could really use a blue ray player!
Would not pay any premium for this service.
I WOULDN’T PAY ANYTHING, JUST WAIT FOR IT TO COME ON VOD AND WATCH IT FOR $0.
No more than $8.00
My first thought was “why would anyone pay $60 to see a movie at home when they could go to the theater for a fraction of that????” Then it dawned on me… AT HOME. Which means no previews of movies I hve no interest in, no $6 popcorn and no sitting next to that person who thinks it’s ok to bathe in perfume before going to sit with 100 other people in an enclosed space. That being said, the most I would pay is $25. That’s about how much it costs for me and the BF to see a movie at the theater. Anymore than that and I will wait for it to come to RedBox.
I think $2 or $3 for 3d.. About 2ce the price to rent it 4 months later.
The max would probably be $10, and thats only if I want to see it REALLY bad.
I don’t think I’d pay more than 2 or 3 dollars.
I think $30 bucks a month for rentals is about right.
$3.00 max is what i would pay
