FreebieFriday_CommunityTGIF! Every week on “Freebie Friday” we offer our readers an opportunity to win free prizes. This week we’re giving away 5-packs of free Redbox rentals to three lucky winners!

Jurassic Park celebrates its 20th anniversary by lumbering back into theaters in 3D this weekend. This movie is known for its groundbreaking special effects, which got us thinking about other effects-filled movies. Enter this week’s contest by answering the following question in the comments section below:

What movie has the best special effects of all time?

Your choices can range from recent films that are full of CGI to the quaint days of puppets and matte paintings. Some picks might be Star Wars, The Matrix, and Jaws, but don’t forget about other innovators like Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Terminator 2, Titanic, and 2001.

On Monday the 8th we will pick three winners at random from the submitted comments. Each winner will receive five free Redbox rentals! Multiple comments will disqualify you, so please respond just once.

Good luck, Insiders!

Update

Congratulations to our winners: FAN9ATIC, Donaldot, and alma! We’ll be in touch shortly about your prizes.

Okay it may not be the best but the one that I will always remember is when the shark jumped out of the water in Jaws and my Dad jumped out of his chair. I never saw him jump like that before.

Gonna have to go with Titanic. Especially from when the movie came out they have obviously gotten better with effects but for 1997 they were incredicle effects for that movie. Love it!

The Last Starfighter blew me away as a kid. Seeing the huge Gunstars being moved around in the hanger still thrills me today.

So far the best GRAPHICS I’ve seen was on Avatar and The Great Oz. takes alot more that for someone to do a backbend in a movie like the matrix to impress me. Computer generated graphics like the ones I those movies are the best!

To many good ones changed the tide for special
effects. Some that stood out for me would be the
Star Wars trilogy, Polar Express, Avatar, and all of
The Hobbit movies. Since I must choose one
    I’d go with Avatar.

Jurassic Park 3D would have to be my selection. I saw the early release of the movie and I must recommend it to everyone. It was way better than I remembered and I was able to take my daughter to see it for the first time. She was in awe of the realistic, bigger than life dinosaurs. The experience was priceless.
