Redbox parent Coinstar has announced its latest kiosk investment: health screening boxes. Coinstar will be investing an undisclosed sum into SoloHealth, a technology company that has developed an advanced health screening kiosk.
SoloHealth kiosks will allow consumers to check their vision, blood pressure, weight and BMI for free. In addition users can get overall health assessment and access a directory of local doctors. As for the kiosks’ method of generating revenue, SoloHealth “plans to provide highly personalized and interactive healthcare opportunities for consumers, advertisers and retailers by placing kiosks in high-traffic retail locations and connecting them to SoloHealth’s multi-platform ecosystem across retail, online/digital, mobile and emerging platforms.”
Gregg Kaplan, Coinstar’s president and COO, offered the following on his company’s new investment:
“As a leader in automated retail, Coinstar is continually looking for kiosk concepts that are innovative and compelling . . . We believe that SoloHealth will address the changing market dynamics in the healthcare space by bringing free health and wellness screening to individuals who may not have accessed it otherwise.

So how about it, Insiders? When you’re out picking up a Redbox disc for a movie night, would you also hit the neighboring SoloHealth kiosk for a quick checkup?

It’s probably best to check your blood pressure before you eat that bag of movie theater butter popcorn, though.

I’m still waiting for the joint promotion with the *tobacco companies* for discounts on disk rentals. ;
This company is really grasping for straws!
ridiculous….lol
Come on..tell me you haven’t used the free blood pressure machine located in the pharmacy at Giant Eagle, Rite Aide etc. I know I have, but that’s the exstent of it. For a machine to tell me where to go etc….I don’t think so.
Then again, with the way society has become a “drive thru service” you never know.
i would give it a try. i might have some questions to ask my doctor.
