Romantic comedy seemed to be the preferred genre for Redbox customers nationwide this year.

The Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston romcom “Just Go With It” was the most-rented movie at Redbox in 2011. Other top ten rentals included “No Strings Attached”, “Rango” and “The Dilemma.

8. “The Lincoln Lawyer”
9. “The Green Hornet”
10. “I Am Number Four”

Obviously, movies from non-delay window studios and movies that came out earlier in the year had an advantage. Are you surprised by the titles on this list? Any other movies that you thought should have been more popular rentals?

    Just goes to show there is NO accounting for taste.

      It’s actually pretty interesting as to what’s not on the list. Essentially the $1.20 price tag invites rentals of weaker titles that consumers won’t pay to see in the theater and/or rent for $5 from cable. And here all the execs thought that redbox was hurting sell through. Some of these rentals are clearly ‘found’ money to hollywood even if they won’t admit it.

    Its a rom/com available at redbox and got good reviews.

    OMG….this could easily be the list of the WORST MOVIES of 2011-with the exception of Rango and Lincoln Lawyer. Absolute crap.
    American taste is doomed.
